How the pictures were chosen

Every picture here may be reused freely: each is in the public domain or under a Creative Commons licence. Wikimedia Commons supplied most of them and Flickr the rest. Most of the licences ask for a credit, so each picture carries one wherever it is shown, and the list below gathers them. Every picture appears as its source published it, though a frame may crop it; on two, the photographer had already blanked the number plate.

Free photographs from the TR7's own years are few. Three were found: the coupé above; Tony Pond and Dave Richards at the Boucles de Spa in February 1976, as their photographer dates it; and a Datsun 280ZX in Lucerne in 1980. A fourth may be one: a club rally car its photographer dates only to the 1980s. For many subjects, the works cars in period above all, the page shows a stand-in, a car of the type or a later photograph, and its caption says what it shows and that it is not the subject. A stand-in at the head of a page is also labelled "Stand-in" on the picture and at the start of its caption.
